Overview

Sailing Challenge is a French-based company that allows users to host and participate in real-life regattas at any time and from anywhere. The client, Sailing Stream System, contacted us with the aim of getting an app that operates across platforms, including Android, iOS, and Windows. The mobile application will act as a one-stop solution for sailors to set up their profiles and boat profiles, run a regatta, participate in regatta started by others, check out the regatta rankings, and more. The application comes with both free and paid versions. Explore the challenges we faced and how we brought out a stunning hybrid application for the client.

Challenge

It’s the first mobile app for the sailing community, and our team had no clue what the project would be like, and the client had limited resources and information to share with us. The project seemed time-consuming due to the lack of online presence of similar companies or mobile applications. We had to do everything from scratch for this project, and our UI/UX designer had to come up with unique designs to make the application appealing and engaging. However, we rolled up our sleeves to tackle the challenges.

What We Did

Our web development team studied the project and the client’s nature of business to come up with a unique, user-friendly hybrid application. We brainstormed our ideas and added unique features to deliver an excellent app. The following is what we accomplished for Sailing Challenge:

1. Finding the regatta through visual search

This feature allows the users to do a visual search to locate the nearby regatta.

2. Regatta Course

Users can find out the start and finish line of the regatta with this feature.

3. Check The Trace

After running the regatta, users can check the trace using this feature.

4. Sailing Details

This feature allows the users to keep track of sailed distance, average and maximum speed travelled, and more details.

5. Ranking

The users can get complete details of ranking and a list of all regattas.

The Results

The client was extremely happy about the delivery of the hybrid application. We designed it just the way the client wanted and it contained all the necessary features required for starting a regatta, managing it, tracing the course, and checking the rankings. There were more than thousand downloads within a few days of the launch of the app.
